Making use of a lead database is a great way for businesses to quickly find potential prospects for their B2B sales efforts. However, these databases cost money, and you don’t want to pay for something that you are not sure will deliver enough value to your business.
Two popular B2B lead databases are ZoomInfo and Lead411. Since we have extensive experience using both of these databases, below is a complete review of each to help you decide if one of them is right for you.
How to Get Leads For Business
When it comes to generating B2B leads, businesses have a lot of options. Depending on the strategy you are going for and your available resources here is what you can do:
- Put together an email marketing campaign,
- Develop a content strategy that will bring in inbound leads
- Make use of social media,
- Partner up and ask for referrals.
But, if you already tried all of the above strategies and you didn’t have much luck, then researching lead information using one of the B2B lead databases is a great way to learn more about your potential clients. You will be able to find companies and people that fit your ICP, be proactive and reach out to them. Instead of sitting around and waiting for them to come your way.
What Is a B2B Lead Database?
Third party platforms – such as ZoomInfo or Lead411 – collect contact information for millions of people and businesses. Then, using their software, you can search through the databases to find the contact information of people and businesses that fit your ideal customer profile You won’t have to jump around the web in search of additional contact information, all that you are looking for is in one place.
Best Databases For Lead Research
TaskDrive team of researchers and SDRs works with many B2B lead databases. Below is a comparison of 2 of these databases, based on our own experience.
How It Works
ZoomInfo provides a simple interface that makes it simple to find the leads you are looking for. As soon as you log in, you will see a search bar where you can begin your search. There are different fields depending on the type of criteria you want to search for:
- industry keywords,
- the location of the company
- job title.
All relevant results will show up. You can add the names to a list, export the results so you can import them to your CRM, or just save the search so you can use it again in the future.
The flagship feature of ZoomInfo is the searching capability. By allowing users to search through their large database based on a number of different criteria, users are able to more quickly find the information they’re after. It also comes with data segmentation and filtering features, to enhance this search function even further.
ZoomInfo can integrate with a number of CRM software. Some examples include Hubspot, Salesforce, Zoho and Microsoft Dynamics. You can learn more about possible integrations from their support page here.
Another great feature is the insights provided by ZoomInfo. With ZoomInfo, you can discover what topics are currently trending in your industry, determine the correlation between ads and site visits, and see which content your target audience is likely to engage with.
Other useful features of ZoomInfo are:
- Enables you to create targeted contact lists,
- It’s available through any web browser,
- You can receive alerts when there are updates within your industry,
- Custom reports.
According to the ZoomInfo website, their database currently contains 6 million C-Level contacts, email addresses of 27 million decision makers, and 19 million company profiles. The database is also continuously growing, as they add on average 5,000 contacts each day and update 3 million of their current contacts.
The price of ZoomInfo varies. To find out how much it would cost you, you can request a free quote. However, they also provide a free “Community” edition of ZoomInfo that may interest you. With this version, you get free access to their database and can download 10 contacts per month. In exchange, ZoomInfo asks you to install an Outlook plugin that will allow them to use information from your contact list and emails.
ZoomInfo comes with plenty of advantages. From its comprehensive search feature to its ability to integrate with popular CRMs, it’s no wonder that ZoomInfo is one of the most popular lead databases. And since you can access ZoomInfo through a web browser, you can use it on practically any platform, such as Windows, Mac, Android, Apple, or Linux.
As far as drawbacks for ZoomInfo, there aren’t many. However, it is missing a few features found in other lead databases. One feature is the ability to see what connections you have with a prospect. For instance, after you find a prospect through the search, some lead databases will show you any connections you have to that person so that you can ask for an introduction – ZoomInfo doesn’t support this. It would also be nice if you could contact any leads you find directly through the platform, rather than having to switch to another tool.
How It Works
Lead411 works in a similar fashion to ZoomInfo. When you log in, there’s a search function in the top right-hand corner. From there you can add your criteria:
- Job Title
- State or Zip Code
- Employee Size,
- and more.
Depending on the package you subscribed for, you can export a certain amount of contacts. You simply click on the contact information you’re interested in and add it to your cart. The cart works much as it does for online shopping sites. Once you’ve added all the contacts you want to export, you “checkout” and the number of contacts is subtracted from your credits for that month. At the top of the page, you can see how many remaining exports, or credits, you have for that month. This video demo will show you how the Lead411 Enterprise version works, to give you a better idea.
Lead411 comes with some great features that make it stand out from its competitors. One such example is the ability to narrow your search based on a verified email address. For example, you can limit your search to contacts who have had their email addressed verified within the past month, 3 months, year, etc.
Another feature is the available search criteria, which goes further than some of the other B2B lead databases out there. You can search for businesses who have recently received funding, who have announced hiring plans, or even by the software or hardware they’re using.
Finally, Lead411 integrates with 25 different CRM and SaaS tools. If you’re using one of these programs, such as Hubspot, PipeDrive, Salesforce or Zoho, you can easily connect it to Lead411. Then, from there you can export any contacts you find directly to your CRM. Lead411 lists its available integrations here if you want to see if the one you use is available.
Lead411 currently has a database of over 17 million contacts. To develop this list, Lead411 uses in-house search technology, which provides up-to-date lists that can be more credible than other contact list databases.
Pricing for Lead411 starts at $75 per month if you sign up annually. This price goes up to $150 per month if you want their Pro package, which includes some additional features including the ability to make more exports each month. If you want to go with a monthly plan, the prices go up to $99 and $199 per month, respectively. There is also the Enterprise package, which includes even more advanced features, for which you will need to call and get a custom quote.
The advantages of Lead411 include:
- Variable pricing options
- Comprehensive search filters
- Integration with popular CRMs
- High-quality and reliable contact information
The biggest drawback of Lead411 might be that it limits the number of contacts you can export on its two most popular plans(200 and 450, respectively). If you’re a business that plans on exporting a lot of contacts, you’d have to go for the Enterprise package to give yourself unlimited exports, since copy and pasting the information is unavailable. The Enterprise package is more expensive than the other two, making it harder to afford.
What B2B Lead Database to Choose
As you can see, both of these B2B lead databases have something to offer. But going with both likely isn’t financially feasible, so you’re probably looking to go with just one. Which should it be?
Best Overall B2B Lead Database Based On Our Experience
Based on our experience working with both of these databases, they both had their advantages. ZoomInfo seems to have a larger database, but Lead411 has a better search feature. Both of these platforms provide some kind of free trial though, so you can test them both out.
Overall though, we’d give the edge to ZoomInfo. In our experience, this database is more reliable and has more up-to-date information.
Bonus: How To Use All of Them And Save Time and Money
If you can’t decide between the two of them, why not go with both, along with many other B2B lead databases? When you work with TaskDrive, our team of SDRs will work in with databases without any additional fees. Our team has access to many B2B lead databases, and we can leverage them all and provide you with the best results. This saves you money since you won’t have to sign up for each individual database, and time as we’ll do all the searching for you.
As an example, we helped a company called Kentik find more than 100,00 quality contacts that they could use. Kentik told us the type of people and businesses they wanted to target, and we were able to compile them a complete list of targets using our access to each of these databases, including ZoomInfo and Lead411.
Don’t settle for using one B2B lead database when you can use them all. If you’d like to find out more about how TaskDrive makes use of multiple B2B lead databases, and how we can help you grow your business, please contact us today to schedule a consultation.
